Usually in preparation for an oil painting, Timothy Martin does a pencil sketch. But in this instance, he had his gouache paints handy and dashed off this study for what was to become the oil painting Mossphoresence. (See it under Unframed Limited Editions.)   The artist was inspired by the creek on his property alongside a rock wall covered in lichen. The fallen autumn leaves inspired the fish! This framed study measures approximately 16.5″ X 13″ and the matting and framing elevate the piece perfectly.
