The Naturalist Guestbook Comments

Of the tens of thousands of visitors to the Timothy Martin: The Naturalist at the Mona Bismarck Foundation in 2009, hundreds took the time to write in the guest book their impressions of the exhibition. The following are a representative sample of what they said:

  • Wonderful exhibition. I can’t wait to recommend it to everyone for its poetry, its charm and, above all, for the imagination that transports us to a fantasy world which we long so much for nowadays.
  • Superb exhibition, magnificent. A moment of unadulterated happiness. I go away full of enthusiasm. Thanks to the painter and to the Foundation.
  • It looks like another world, but with the real subjects. Truly quite astonishing. Congratulations.
  • Magnificent, enchanting, this exhibition is a real treat. It makes it so hard to have to leave.
  • What a brilliant idea to exhibit such wonderful paintings.
  • Such happiness and joie de vivre emanate from these paintings by Timothy Martin. I feel like laughing when I see the well fed bear with honey dripping all over, birds, insects and other animals captured on the spot but peaceful nonetheless. Also the painting “Morning Glory Gate”, a time for jubilation. Thank you for this exhibit.
  • Most beautiful exhibit I have ever seen! Very interesting imagination that creates a new image of Nature.

  • Flamboyant, blindingly beautiful and so refreshing.
  • Exceptional discovery of the most poetic painter of Nature. A vision of Paradise. Mr Martin, you are an absolute genius.
  • I really enjoy this exhibit, so original, so unique. At times, T. Martin’s paintings remind me of Arcimboldo, The Master of the Renaissance (this is a true compliment!) I shall come back with some of my Swedish countrymen before this exhibit closes down.
  • I have been bedazzled by this exhibit. What freshness, what artistic imagination. Bravo and thank you for this pleasure. It is marvelous.
  • Timothy Martin’s love for Mother Nature, superb, sublime, reminds us how precious she is. Without her we are lost, we vanish. Timothy Martin teaches us how to view her, live with her and admire her. Heartiest congratulations to an artist who works with honesty and subtlety, without being influenced in the least by the “anything goes” attitude which, sadly, many an “artist’ is all about nowadays. With love and admiration for this authentic artist.
  • What talent and humor, what an unusual way to look at things from odd angles. Excellent exhibit, cheerful, lively, topped by an exquisite musical background. A superb moment.
  • Marvelous exhibit, unforgettable experience, outstanding interpretation. This artist is to be recommended.
  • This exhibit is a real dream. Timothy Martin is a poet with a delicate touch, a naturalist in his own way, with an imagination that lets us discover, from now on, the flowers in the garden, the landscapes and our comfortable sofas as new creations… Thank you to the Mona Bismarck Foundation for allowing us to see another facet of American painting.
  • I would say, if the words are not contradictory, that it is deliciously sublime. My daughter was right when she told me to come. Thank you to the Foundation and the Embassy. (Luc Andre Leproux).
